To take care of your car you should do regular maintenance not only on your engine and other mechanical parts but on its appearance!!
At least twice per year you should have the interior and outer finish maintained.
To clean the interior first you need to remove all property from the interior. Then I like to use compressed air to literally blow all trash from under seats, dust from vents and as much trash out the car door. Blow as much dust as possible out of the seat fabric. If you use this method be careful around speakers, stereos, vents, and so on as to not blow them apart with the compressed air.
Second: you vacuum the interior.
Third: wipe down the interior (if the interior is not very dirty I recommend a damp clean chamois to dust dash and instrument panel, seats and so on but if it is dirtier you will need stronger stuff!). Always start with the least dangerous cleaner and if it didn't work try the next stronger cleaner. (Be very careful how you apply the cleaner. Spraying directly on to the surface can sometimes leave permanent light spots).
Fourth: I like to wash the car with a clean wash mitt and "Car Soap" starting from the top and working my way down. After I rinse, I like to re-soap the car and carefully rub it with a detailers clay bar to remove any overspray or fallout. Rinse the car once again and chamois dry the car. When the car is dry you can apply a thin coat of wax carefully on the painted surface. Don't get wax all over everything, stay away from the black plastic surfaces. Only do a 4x4 foot area at a time. When the wax hazes over buff it off with a very soft flannel cloth or same type of cloth. Now time for a final wash, I wash the outside windows and any other area I may have missed, then I rinse one last time. Last are the inside of the windows, I use windex and newspaper or lint free paper towel.
